The Power of Inheritance Embedded in Yougu Technology’s Mentor Apprentice Program
“A teacher is one who imparts knowledge, teaches practical skills and resolves doubts.” Every Teachers’ Day, people turn their attention to educators working hard at the three‑foot podium. At Changzhou Yougu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yougu Technology”), there exists a special group of “teachers”. The mentor‑apprentice program has long been a prominent feature of Yougu Technology’s corporate culture. It is an important initiative driven by “inheritance and innovation” and backed by institutional guarantees, as well as a core approach adopted by the company’s Trade Union for employee skill training.
Different from conventional skill training, Yougu Technology’s Mentor‑Apprentice Pairing emphasizes “teaching by words and deeds” and “empowerment through practice”. Senior employees act as mentors to share professional know‑how, problem‑solving mindsets and hands‑on experience. As apprentices, new recruits quickly get familiar with workflows and master competencies under one‑on‑one guidance. This “pass‑on, assist‑and‑guide” model delivers mutual progress for both mentors and apprentices. It improves young employees’ professionalism and capabilities, and helps them adapt to posts and integrate into the enterprise rapidly.
With strong support from the company Trade Union and leveraging the platform strengths of Gu Yongjiu Model‑Worker (Craftsman) Innovation Studio, the program has borne fruitful outcomes. To date, the scale of mentor‑apprentice pairs keeps expanding steadily, with more than 30 pairs established in total. Thirteen pairs have completed their mentorship successfully, vividly demonstrating the remarkable effectiveness of the “veterans guiding newcomers, newcomers stimulating mutual learning” mechanism. Nurtured by devoted mentors, batches of young employees have grown from workplace newcomers into key back‑bone staff, injecting fresh talent and vitality into the enterprise’s sustained development.
It is worth noting that the success stories of Yougu’s mentor‑apprentice program earn wide external recognition beyond internal achievements. In 2023, the mentor‑apprentice pair of Gao Nanyang and Zhang Yong from the Manufacturing Department received official commendation as “Excellent Mentor‑Apprentice Pair” issued by the Xinbei District Trade Union, setting a benchmark for the company’s mentorship model.
This Teachers’ Day, while paying tribute to school educators, Yougu also extends gratitude to these “in‑house corporate mentors”. Upholding original aspirations with craftsmanship, they foster young talent through the mentor‑apprentice scheme and let the spirit of mentorship light up the path of corporate development.
