Yougu Technology Wins Vestas Continuous Improvement Excellence Award

Amid the global wind power industry’s drive for lean practices and operational excellence, Changzhou Yougu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yougu Technology”) has been awarded the Continuous Improvement Excellence Contribution Award by Vestas, the global wind‑energy giant, for the remarkable achievements of its LEAN4WIND·2025 project. The company has become a benchmark partner for lean transformation within Vestas’ supply chain.

Launched in June 2025, the LEAN4WIND·2025 project set clear regulations and objectives and formed a dedicated team. Efforts were made across multiple dimensions including on‑site management, logistics optimization, process improvement and quality control to advance lean enhancements throughout the full production chain.

Multiple resources such as tooling, equipment and visual management boards were deployed for the project. More than 70 improvement initiatives were completed covering nine major categories including welding layout, logistics routes and order management. Among them: two rounds of welding‑layout adjustments were carried out and standardized material‑flow routes were rolled out to create a better‑organized workshop and smoother material circulation. Logistics routes were upgraded, cutting logistics travel distance by over 300 meters and substantially lowering material‑handling costs and time losses. Order management was enhanced by leveraging product steel‑stamp numbers and key working procedures to realize precise order‑progress control and full‑process traceability. Visual management and training systems were revamped: a standardized visual‑management system was built with optimized visual solutions for welding stations. The training room and welder‑training base were upgraded to consolidate the foundation for lean implementation.

Breakthroughs were also achieved on the process front with 13 improvements under eight categories to empower production through innovation. Fine‑tolerance improvements for sub‑component dimensions were rolled out to boost product quality stability. An innovative six‑step machining process for generator housings was introduced, cutting working hours by 8 hours per unit and delivering notable efficiency gains. Robotic welding was introduced, performance verified and approved following stringent customer audits. New value‑stream maps were drawn to identify and eliminate process waste for more streamlined production workflows.

After months of intensive work, the LEAN4WIND·2025 project delivered outstanding results:

  • Substantial lead‑time reduction: Production cycle was shortened from 132 days to 91 days, a net reduction of 41 days, with greatly strengthened delivery capacity.
  • Elevated quality performance: First‑pass UT (Ultrasonic Testing) yield remains steadily above 98 %, and NDT (Non‑Destructive Testing) yield exceeds 98 %, earning high customer recognition for product quality.
  • Significant efficiency and cost improvements: Approximately 709 hours of process waste time were eliminated, unlocking comprehensive lean benefits.

Receiving Vestas’ Continuous Improvement Excellence Contribution Award represents high recognition of Yougu Technology’s lean achievements and marks a key milestone for deeper cooperation toward high‑quality development of the wind‑power industry. It signals that the partnership between Yougu Technology and Vestas has evolved from basic‑level dimensions such as safety, quality, delivery and cost toward higher‑level value co‑creation. This serves as a vivid demonstration of the company’s core business philosophy of “continuously creating value for customers” and highlights the strategic importance of Yougu Technology’s pursuit of world‑class management capabilities.

Moving forward, Yougu Technology will further advance lean management, institutionalize experience gained from the LEAN4WIND project into long‑term management mechanisms, and keep optimizing production workflows, upgrading technical capabilities and tightening quality control. Together with global partners including Vestas, the company will contribute Yougu’s strength to the green, efficient and sustainable development of the wind‑power industry and accelerate progress toward the dual‑carbon goals.
